1,039,000 People Snap Up 1.4 Million Apple Watches First Week
Pent-up demand indeed! An hour-by-hour analysis of Apple Watch sales by Slice Intelligence revealed that a staggering 62 percent of Apple Watches were sold between 12 and 1 a.m sold on April 10, the first day of the pre-sale. Fully 86 percent of watches were sold by 8 a.m. as Apple fans rushed online to be among the first to own Apple’s latest invention.
The firm also released the updated numbers of Apple Watch sales for the week: more than one million people purchased about 1.4 million Apple Watches. Sixty-two percent of orders were least-expensive Apple Watch Sport, and 38 percent were the Apple Watch. Selling for an average price of $11,000 each, the spendy Apple Watch Edition accounted for less than one percent of pre-orders.
